Summer Send-Off is one of Cambridge Main Street's signature events, with plenty of Blues, Brews & BBQ to bid farewell to summer! Summer Send-Off returns September 12, 2015.

The festival happens in downtown Cambridge, Maryland. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated and go to support the work of the volunteers who work with the nonprofit Cambridge Main Street to advance the exciting revitalization of our downtown.

• GREAT FOOD BY LOCAL CHEFS, paired with brews, craft brews, and cocktails. So far, for 2015, we've locked up local favorites Jimmie & Sook's, Stoked, Portside Seafood Restaurant, Katie Mae's Country Shoppe and River View at the Point.

• LIVE LOCAL MUSIC on the RAR Main Stage at 504 Poplar Street. Black Dog Alley will open, and the Justin Ryan Band will make its Cambridge debut to close things out. Get more information HERE.

• THE WACKY MAIN STREET MILE RELAY RACE

Get your team together for the Main Street Mile, a wacky relay race that's always a highlight at Summer Send-Off! This year, the big race begins at 6:30pm on Saturday, September 12.  Don't worry, it's not a mile long (only about 60 feet), and everything is done in a spirit of fun. Costumes are definitely encouraged! This is a spoof of the IRONMAN Maryland triathlon on Oct. 3, so be prepared to "swim" (run in snorkel fins and mask), "bike" (using a kid-size tricycle), and "run" (walk while balancing an egg on a spoon). Teams come from local businesses and organizations. Teams MUST pre-register, and there's only space for nine teams. Interested? Call 443.477.0843 or send an e-mail to [email protected].

Each team has four adults (all 18 and over). Prizes for the fastest team are team medals and a $100 contribution to the charity of the team's choice. Prizes for the team with the best team spirit are team medals and a $100 gift card to a local restaurant.

• LATE SHOPPING & MORE LIVE MUSIC AT EVENT AFTER-PARTIES

Downtown shops will be open late during the event, offering special pricing on summer merchandise and special previews of their new fall inventory. And once the event ends at 10pm, there will be more live music featured in several downtown restaurants. Here are descriptions of our downtown shops.
